Help! I found my perfect match in a scam list!

Don?t Panic: Be Thorough

Note down where you found your bride?s username; the web address of the site, and as much additional information about the list as you can find. It?s also a good idea to write down the name exactly as presented on the site, if it matches your bride?s. Your best move is to print a copy of the relevant web page address. Please make sure that the full name in the scam list matches your bride?s full name. If it is merely the same username then such information may not be conclusive.

Scope for error

While the fact your Russian bride is listed in a scam list should constitute reasonable concern, please make sure that the scam list is itself reputable. A lot of Russian women complain that there are men who do not seek a relationship, but rather, ask them for photographs where they appear naked. After the women refused, the men report them as scammers. So there is scope for error. Please make sure that the scam list includes sample letters that these ladies allegedly sent out before they were reported. Often, if the ladies are scammers, they tend to send out the same template letters to a number of people. This is generally how they can be identified. Look at the letters reported on the scam list and compare them with the correspondence you have received.

Is my Russian bride for real?

Before requesting any background checks, we do advice the use of common sense to identify those Russian women who have insincere intentions. For example, if a woman is asking you for money to get a visa, it is a common sign of scam. Please be aware that a visa if done officially costs around $100 to most countries. US visas, in particular, can not be obtained in any way other than by going to the relevant embassy in person and doing everything legally. Sometimes scammers want you to believe they know someone ?who works in the embassy? or ?can help with a visa?; do not get drawn in. Insist on obtaining the visa legally by sending your Russian woman an invitation letter and contacting the Embassy if necessary. Alternatively, use a reputable travel agent to assist the lady with visa and travel arrangements. This way you will pay directly to the agent ? an arrangement which scammers are reluctant to accept. Please also remember that often, it is very difficult for the lady to obtain a visa, especially if you have not met her in person and she doesn?t have a long track record of traveling internationally. Be aware that you may need to go and visit your Russian bride before inviting her over.

Background Checks

Please note that no background check can reveal the true intentions of any person.

If you wish to request a background check we have made arrangements with a few companies who specialize in this service and who have been in this business for a long term. A Basic Check costs $130 (slightly more for Ukraine ) and will confirm your Russian woman?s full name, date of birth, registered address and telephone number. The basic check will tell you if the person that you are corresponding with is who she says she is. You can also request further checks such as employment, marital status, children, ownership (vehicles, real estate), criminal records, trips overseas for the past several years. There is always scope to get to the bottom of the issue if the person means a lot to you.

Stay Calm: Speak to Her About It?

Equipped with any relevant information, you need to talk to your Russian bride about this. Explain what you have discovered. It is advisable to do it over the phone so that you can get her first reaction. You should not blame her for anything; you are simply sharing the information. The objective is to get her view point on each piece of information. If you do it over the phone the person will have to give you quick responses. If she is sincere, she will pass the test. If not, she will likely either become confused or give you answers which will make little sense. Have your notepad beside you.

Do remember, scammers are out there. But the majority of those who seek a relationship have the same sincere objectives as you: to meet a life partner, to have a family, to be simple and happy. Often to achieve success mistakes are inevitable, as in any venture. If you do come across a scammer, do not be discouraged, it is natural. This does not diminish the probability of your success; on the contrary, you are one big step closer.
